Cisco’s Venerable Catalyst 6500 Line Gets Virtual Refresh - Active/Standby

As part of the Virtual Switching System 1440 architecture, one physical Catalyst 6500 is designated as the active virtual switch and another is the standby virtual switch. All control-plane functions are centrally managed by the active chassis.
