Linux distributor MandrakeSoft last week announced that a French court had approved the company's plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection. Under the plan, MandrakeSoft will pay back its creditors over nine years.

Linux distributor MandrakeSoft last week announced that a French court had approved the companys plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection. Under the plan, MandrakeSoft will pay back its creditors over nine years.

MandrakeSoft, which filed for bankruptcy protection a little more than a year ago, recently posted its first profitable quarter since 1999. For the period ended December 2003, the company reported a profit of about $328,000 (270,000 euros) on revenue of $1.7 million (1.4 million euros).
