Comcast Cable Communications, Cox Communications and Rogers Communications have reached agreements with Excite@Home to ensure uninterrupted service for their customers.

Comcast Cable Communications, Cox Communications and Rogers Communications have reached agreements with Excite@Home to ensure uninterrupted service for their customers. Those customers were in danger of losing their service after Bankruptcy Court Judge Thomas E. Carlson ruled on Friday that Excite@Home could terminate its service agreements and cease providing service to its cable affiliates and their customers. Excite@Home filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September.
So far 850,000 AT&T subscribers to the service have already been affected, when negotiations between the two companies broke down.
In lieu of the monthly subscriber fees that would have been paid to Excite@Home, Comcast and Cox each agreed late Monday to pay $160 million to Excite@Home for three months of high-speed Internet service while they transition approximately 1.4 million customers combined to their own networks. Rogers did not disclose the financial details of its transitional agreement covering approximately 425,000 subscribers. Judge Carlson must still approve all of the agreements.
