Messaging & Online Collaboration: Salesforce.com Chatter Has Facebook Feel, Business Sensibility
Salesforce.com's new Chatter offering uses a Facebook-like paradigm to facilitate collaboration within a secure social network. Profiles, feeds and groups will enable Salesforce users to stay connected in real-time around content, applications and other people in the company. Salesforce.com Director of Platform Research Peter Coffee told eWEEK that where public social networks "share lots of stuff in a very straightforward and convenient way, and tend to introduce features with liberal sharing as the default," Chatter is built on the trust model that's at the bottom of the Force.com platform. Chatter is currently in beta, and will be made generally available on June 22.
