Messaging & Online Collaboration: Vello Conference Calling: Hits and Misses

By Andrew Garcia on 2008-10-28

Vello makes conference calling simple, creating a system that doesn't require callers to know a PIN or dial-in number. Unfortunately, Vello's billing is a mess.

To create a call, drag users from the contact database, add descriptive information and then schedule as needed.

The host creator gets a rundown of the meeting as scheduled.

Call information is automatically e-mailed to participants with a calendar attachment.

Hosts can configure voice prompts and caller ID information to personalize calls.

Vello provides a plug-in that allows Outlook users to import contacts directly into the Vello database.

The online billing module is not sortable, doesn't provide detailed call records and is frequently very wrong.

The monthly bill provides records in significantly greater detail of what conferences took place, who participated and how long everyone stayed connected.
