10 iPhone, iPad Apps to Boost Your Presidents Day Knowledge

by Nathan Eddy
Presidents Day, also known as Washington's Birthday, is a federal holiday that pays tribute to the leaders of the United States, originally implemented by an Act of Congress in 1880. Aside from a day off work or school (hooray!), it allows all Americans to reflect on the politics and personalities of the men who have guided the nation through prosperous and perilous times. Accordingly, the army of developers contributing to Apple's App Store for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad tablet offer a wide selection of applications offering educational and entertaining opportunities to beef up your knowledge of our Founding Fathers, current leaders, and the history of the U.S. political system. In the spirit of the holiday, eWEEK has selected a list of apps not only dedicated to one or many presidents, but apps that connect more broadly to the theme of Presidents Day. To top it off, many of the apps listed here are free or cost less than a dollar—how American. There's no better time to brush up on your U.S. history than this holiday Monday. Although President Obama is probably working, we know you're not going to be in the office!
