Much of the laptop- and desktop-manufacturing industry may be focused on producing smaller, lighter devices along the lines of netbooks and ultrathins, but Apple seems determined to buck that trend with the 27-inch iMac, which marries high-powered processing with a considerable widescreen display. Weighing in at 30 pounds, with processor options that include a 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor or 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, the 27-inch iMac provides a lot of power for multimedia workers or those with a need to watch widescreen movies while performing heavy-duty number-crunching. The 27-inch iMac also reaffirms Apple's design aesthetic, with a tapered pedestal, redesigned speakers and the button-free Magic Mouse.
