Data backup, business continuity and disaster recovery services
specialist Axcient announced the latest feature of its complete data
protection platform, Bare Metal Restore for workstations. This
new development extends backup and restoration to user desktops and
laptops—the company’s solutions are typically aimed at MSPs (Managed Service
Providers) and their SMB (small and midsize business) customers.
Axcient's BMR for workstations allows administrators the ability to
restore entire desktop and laptop images with all the associated
data, applications and settings to a new device with minimal setup or
administration. The company said this helps save IT administrators days
of manual recovery and lost productivity and helps ensure uptime for
their customers. Axcient offers BMR for workstations as an
agentless solution and is fully integrated with a unified service for
backup, continuity and disaster recovery built on one platform.
"Over 60 percent of all critical customer data resides on workstations,
and yet, most companies don't protect their laptops and desktops with
nearly the same vigilance that they protect their servers," said Justin
Moore, CEO of Axcient. "This powerful enhancement expands our data
protection and business continuity features to cover all vital systems
from the laptop to the server, and furthers our mission to provide
seamless data and application uptime with unparalleled ease of use."
Axcient's BMR for laptops and desktops allows the administrator the
ability to chose which files, drives or systems to back up, determine
the frequency of full, incremental and refresh backups, and select
from multiple recovery points for full image restoration or individual
file recovery. With Axcient's adaptable BMR solution, administrators
can also reproduce a standard workstation configuration for a new
employee or perform a full restore for an existing employee to any
compatible hardware using the latest system image.
This can be done through Axcient's Web-based console and without
installing any software on the network. The latest edition to the
Axcient suite of backup, business continuity and disaster recovery
services is available to all current and future customers through
Axcient's Web interface.
"SMBs require backup services that are reliable, reduce risk, minimize
downtime and make it painless to restore business-critical data," said
Dave DiStefano of Advanced Micro Computer Specialists. "Axcient is at
the forefront of the backup, business continuity and disaster recovery
market, and with the recent addition of Bare Metal Restore for
workstations, continues to show why they are becoming the data
protection vendor of choice for the SMB market. Axcient enables us to
meet our objective to protect all of our customers' data and keep them
productive at all times. We are very excited about Axcient's continued
innovation and regular feature enhancements."
