Ingate Systems sister company Intertex Data AB launches the the IX78 Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC), aimed at cost-conscious businesses.
Ingate Systems, a provider of enterprise session border
controllers that enable session initiation protocol (SIP) communications such as SIP trunking and unified communications
beyond the protected enterprise network, introduces the IX78 Enterprise Session
Border Controller (E-SBC) from sister company Intertex Data AB. The IX78 E-SBC
is a security edge device designed to enable and accelerate service providers'
large-scale SIP trunk services.
Intertex said the IX78 E-SBC simplifies and speeds up
carrier deployments of SIP trunks by solving the NAT and firewall traversal
problem and interoperability issues between the service provider and the very
many SIP-enabled private branch exchanges (PBXs) on the market. It allows the
service provider to deploy SIP trunks either over the Internet or via dedicated
IP connections, and customer installations with separate PBX telephony systems
as well as unified communication IP-PBXs on a common VoIP and data network are
directly supported.
"Rather than offering a limited service offering after
long and expensive PBX testing, with Ingate, service providers can deliver
seamless, secure SIP trunks to a much larger number of customers --
immediately," said Ingate Systems president Steven Johnson. "Service
providers are offering SIP trunks to increase ROI on VoIP installations,
quickly. The IX78 E-SBC offers them a cost-effective solution designed
specifically for these kinds of mass deployments."
The IX78 E-SBC is being marketed as a plug-and-play device
with provisioning tools, management and support capabilities adapted to the
carrier's service. The IX78 E-SBC also normalizes the SIP signaling between the
SIP trunk service and the SIP-enabled PBXs, the company said. The solution can
handle up to 50 concurrent calls over the SIP trunk based on licenses
installed. It can be used in parallel with the customer's existing firewall (as
an Ingate SIParator) or as the full SMB firewall or router for both VoIP and data.
The solution prioritizes voice over data traffic to help ensure
quality of service and it connects to the wireless area network (WAN) via
ethernet or a built-in ADSL 2+ AnnexA/M modem. The IX78 E-SBC can also be used
for hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) services utilizing the full potential of SIP
devices on the local area network (LAN), supporting video, presence and Instant
Messaging in addition to traditional telephony. The IX78 E-SBC offers provisioning,
monitoring and management capabilities such as logging, resolving
interoperability issues, system maintenance, as well as reporting jitter, mean
opinion score (MOS) value and other call quality statistics.
