For work or for play, a high-performance custom PC is often an irresistible piece of eye candy, with enough computing power to launch a space shuttle. Well, perhaps not that powerful, but custom system builders like Falcon Northwest Computer Systems, based in Medford, Ore., and Richmond, Va.-based Velocity Micro offer features like liquid cooling, individual system performance tuning and HyperClocking.Even companies such as Dell, which bought custom PC builder Alienware in 2006, and BMW, known best in the computer world for the advanced monitoring systems it builds into its luxury cars, are getting into the custom PC game.
