SkillSoft, a software-as-a-service provider of e-learning and
performance support solutions for enterprises, government, education
and small to medium-size businesses, announced an agreement with
Pearson Technology Group, a division of Pearson PLC, publisher of Cisco
Press, to deliver selected Cisco Press titles to Books24x7 customers,
within the ITPro collection.
The agreement provides SkillSoft clients additional resources for
training and development and IT certification, and adds a third type of
Cisco authorized self-study content to SkillSoft’s overall solution,
which already includes Cisco-related e-learning and Live Learning
courses. SkillSoft’s Books24x7 offers a collection of more than 25,000
professional digital book titles that allows users to search, browse,
read, organize, recommend and share information.
"Cisco is dedicated to collaborating with educational leaders such as
SkillSoft and Pearson to support the development of technical talent so
that our customers and partners have the best possible experience with
Cisco technology," said Erik Ullanderson, manager of global
certifications for Learning@Cisco. "We're confident that as a result of
these new training options, Cisco certifications will continue to be
highly regarded and relevant to employers across the globe."
ITPro is the Books24x7 flagship collection, providing technology
professionals access to more than 9,000 IT resources. Select Cisco
Press books now available live in ITPro include books such as
“Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices, Part 1”, “Implementing Cisco
IOS Network Security” and “Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP
Networks.” Books24x7 is also mobile accessible and integrated into the
learning programs of many organizations, including contributions from
publishers such as McGraw-Hill Professional, John Wiley & Sons, and
Microsoft Press.
The company’s content offerings include business, IT, desktop,
compliance and consumer/SMB courseware collections, as well as
complementary content assets such as Leadership Development Channel
video products, KnowledgeCenter portals, virtual instructor-led
training services and online mentoring services. SkillSoft's Books24x7
product offering includes access to the aforementioned 25,000 digitized
IT and business books, as well as book summaries and executive reports.
Technology offerings include the SkillPort learning management system,
Search-and-Learn, SkillSoft Dialogue, inGenius and virtual classroom.
“Cisco Press titles are often requested by our customers,” said John
Ambrose, SkillSoft’s senior vice president of strategy, corporate
development and emerging business. “They are clearly a leading resource
for networking and IT professionals. Adding Cisco Press to ITPro
supports our objective to continue providing the industry with the most
powerful on-demand e-reference resources for the enterprise IT market.”
