SoftLayer customers can download Cloud SMS for free through the SoftLayer Technology Partner Marketplace portal.
StillSecure,
a managed network security solutions and certified compliance company,
announced the availability of a cloud security solution called Cloud Security
Monitoring Service. Targeted at cloud infrastructure users and providers, Cloud
SMS is available free of charge to StillSecure customers through SoftLayer's
Technology Partners Marketplace portal.
The
first in a series of solutions to be delivered by StillSecure, Cloud SMS provides
infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) customers with a host-based firewall
management solution. It is also available to cloud and hosting provider
partners to offer to their customers via their internal customer portals.
SoftLayer
customers can download Cloud SMS through the SoftLayer Technology Partner
Marketplace portal and then install the solution on their CloudLayer computing
platform through SoftLayer's customer portal. Additional premium Cloud SMS
services will be offered based on volume, and features and will be available
throughout 2012, the company noted in a release.
"As
the cloud market moves toward the enterprise and SMB space, security remains a
top concern for customers considering a move to the cloud," said Doug Toombs,
research manager at Tier1 Research. "As customers become accustomed to
provisioning cloud computing resources in minutes via easy-to-use graphical
interfaces, security solutions need to keep up and present an equally
approachable interface to a broad spectrum of users."
Duke
Skarda, chief technology officer for SoftLayer, said with Cloud SMS, end users
no longer need to learn the IPTables command line interface to secure their
cloud instances, and the agent can be embedded by cloud providers and customers
for easy replication. The Web-based interface is API-driven and can be embedded
inside a cloud provider's portal.
"Security
is absolutely critical to our customers, whether they are utilizing our
dedicated server solutions or our cloud infrastructure," Skarda. "The
StillSecure Cloud SMS solution brings tremendous value to our customers looking
to quickly and easily secure their environments. This offering will help play a
critical role in our customers' over-arching dedicated and cloud security strategy."
In
July, StillSecure launched the Managed Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Service for organizations seeking a higher level of security and those struggling
with regulatory compliance standards, such as the Payment Card Industry Data
Security Standard (PCI-DSS). The service can reduce the incidences of network
security breaches by requiring multiple factors to properly identify a user and
to ensure they are who they say they are. Users can also add, delete and modify
identities through an online self-service console, as well as assign and remove
RSA SecurID Token fobs through the company's Security Operations Centers.
