The telecommunication systems division of Toshiba America
announced its IP5531-SDL IP telephone, a new addition to its line of
Toshiba IP5000-series business telephones. The IP5531-SDL IP telephone
gives more endpoint choices to users of Toshiba’s IPedge IP business
telephone systems. It is also compatible with the company’s Strata CIX
IP business communication systems. All of Toshiba’s IP5000-series
telephone models are available nationwide from authorized Toshiba
dealers and prices will vary by model, a company release noted.
The IP5531-SDL is a nine-line IP business telephone with 20
programmable buttons, and a 10/100M bps Fast Ethernet connection with a
full-duplex speakerphone. With the new IP5531-SDL model, Toshiba
customers now have nine different IP5000-series telephones from which
to choose. Models range from four- to nine-line telephones, with 10 to
20 flexible buttons, and many have backlit LCD screens. Models are
available with either Gigabit Ethernet or 10/100M bps Fast Ethernet
connection and all models come standard with a PC interface, headset
interface and Ethernet cable.
“With the new IP5531-SDL IP telephone, we are responding to our
customers’ demands for a more affordable IP telephone handset with Fast
Ethernet and LCD button labels. When combined with the new IPedge IP
business telephone systems, our users have a robust yet affordable IP
business communication solution,” said Eric Abing, product manager for
Toshiba America’s telecommunication systems division.
Toshiba IP5000-series telephones are compatible with the entire
family of IPedge IP business telephones as well as Toshiba’s Strata CIX
IP business telephone systems. IPedge, which launched in June, is an IP
business telephone system in a Linux-based single-server solution. The
platform accommodates multiple unified communication applications on a
single server, including call processing, voicemail and unified
messaging, native SIP line and SIP trunk support, mobility,
survivability, centralized administration of all sites, and
feature-rich telephone endpoints.
In addition, add-on applications, such as meet-me conferencing with
Web collaboration, uMobility Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) and Call
Center solutions, are available with additional servers. Strata CIX
systems can be networked with IPedge systems, the company noted, and
IPedge Net is 100 percent compatible with CIX Strata Net networking and
provides a migration path for currently deployed systems. Using IPedge
Enterprise Manager and a Web browser, individual users can manage their
own telephones, including programming buttons and personalizing
telephone functions. The IPedge Meeting application gives users an
online solution to collaborate, communicate and connect.
