Enterprise Mobility: 10 Google vs. Apple Battles to Watch
A year ago, Apple and Google enjoyed a strong relationship. Google CEO Eric Schmidt was sitting on Apple's board and the companies were silent partners in a battle against Microsoft. Their goal at the time was to dominate their respective markets and join forces wherever they could to attack their shared enemy, Microsoft. At the time, some wondered if the bond between Google and Apple would last. The two companies were starting to compete with each other in extremely important markets. And considering how tough it reportedly is to work with Steve Jobs, it seemed like it would be a matter of time before the companies would have a falling out. They did. The issues started when Apple rejected the Google Voice application access to the App Store. But rather than find an easy solution, the battle between the two companies ramped up as Jobs and Schmidt traded barbs. That resulted in Schmidt no longer sitting on Apple's board and Jobs saying that Google's "Don't be evil" mantra is nonsense. The two CEOs recently met over coffee to discuss some of their issues, but whether or not they were resolved is unknown. For now, we know that the war between Apple and Google is still on. And there are some battles ahead that you should definitely want to see.
