Apple's iPad might be the most popular tablet on store shelves, but for some users, it just doesn't offer the kind of functionality they're looking for in a mobile product. Rather than look at upcoming tablets, perhaps it's time to take a step back and start evaluating whether or not lightweight laptops or, in some cases, netbooks, can adequately replace the iPad for those consumers that want more than a big iPod Touch. Whether the devices come from HP, Dell or Acer, they all deliver a slightly different, but more recognizable function than the iPad. They also come in at a price that can compete quite well against Apple's tablet. Simply put, there is more out there than the iPad for those that want to be productive while on-the-go.
