Apple's iPad is one of the most coveted devices on the market. It has set a new standard in the touch-screen space and effectively started the tablet war. The desire for the iPad makes some sense. The device works extremely well and provides access to iTunes content. Plus, it's an Apple product. Although that might not mean much to some consumers, to many others, having an Apple device means owning a high-quality product with breakthrough technology. But whether or not the iPad follows in that long Apple tradition is decidedly up for debate. The iPad tablet is a well-built machine and it certainly has features that are worth having, but it also has several shortcomings that, in the end, might make it a less-than-ideal choice for those who are looking for a true mobile companion wherever they go. That's not to say the iPad doesn't have any value—it does—but here's why it might not be worth buying right now.
