It's no secret that bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives at small businesses and large enterprises are changing the way companies manage their employees-and their mobile devices, whether it's a laptop, tablet or smartphone. Organizations are increasingly spending more time, energy and IT staffing resources on mobile-device management (MDM), according to a recent survey by Osterman Research. Among organizations that have not yet deployed an MDM solution, 32 percent said they would deploy one in 2013 and additional 24 percent plan to deploy one in 2014. The potential for loss of intellectual property was the leading factor for deploying an MDM solution, cited by 34 percent of respondents. Complicating the matter is the wide variety of networks and cloud-based collaboration tools businesses use. With that in mind, eWEEK compiled a list of the top MDM applications for Apple iOS devices, specifically the iPhone and the iPad.  Best of all, these apps are all free. That will help you keep those MDM costs down.
