eWEEK recently brought you a list of must-have Google applications for the Apple iPhone and iPad. This time we're visiting the Android Marketplace to check out what Android has to offer users who might have an Apple iOS-powered device—or wish they did. While there is no shortage of Android fans out there—worldwide market share for the Android mobile operating system hit 48 percent in the second quarter, researcher Canalys reported Aug. 1—a selection of Android Marketplace applications serves to emulate some aspects of the iPhone, such as an iOS-like home screen with widgets or an emulator for the iPhone's keyboard layout. Other applications available in the Android Marketplace are meant to help Android users display their pride in the OS and take some digs at Apple. While these might be for die-hard Android aficionados only (say, an animated desktop background showing the Android alien munching a bushel of Apple logos), there's no denying there is some small pleasure to be had in a mobile game that consists of blowing iPads out of the sky, Asteroids-style.
