Enterprise Mobility: Apple iPhone Apps to Make Mother`s Day Memorable
There's an iPhone application for nearly everything these days, no? Mother's Day is no exception, what with the need for e-cards, digital bouquets of flowers and virtual breakfasts in bed. But we love our mothers, and since many of them carry smartphones these days, perhaps giving the gift of app isn't such a bad idea. Apple's App Store offers dozens of options for sending little tokens of recognitionyou could spend quite some time just perusing the Mother's Day e-card applications. For those who don't know the history of the holiday, Anna Jarvis created Mother's Day in 1908 as a day to honor one's mother. She kept promoting the holiday until President Woodrow Wilson made it an official national holiday in 1914. Ironically, the over-commercialization (in many people's eyes) of the holiday led to Jarvis' eventual opposition to the celebration. According to IBISWorld, a publisher of business research, Americans will spend about $2.6 billion on flowers, $1.53 billion on pampering giftssuch as spa treatmentsand another $68 million on greeting cards. Makes the App Store look like quite a bargain, no?
