Cortado iPhone App Can Now Print, Scan Documents
An update to the Cortado Workplace iPhone app offers the ability to print to a WiFi-accessible printer and to use the camera to scan documents, which can be converted to PDFs. The free app also offers 1GB of protected online storage space.iPhone users were offered several new business capabilities on March 29, with the rollout of additional functions for Cortado Workplace, a free application for the iPhone.
The new version includes 1GB of password-protected online storage space for documents and files. According to Cortado, users can upload up to 3MB at a time to the space, and e-mails can be saved to the storage space with an e-mail forward.
A new Workplace file manager feature offers access to files via the iPhone, enabling users to cut, paste, rename documents and move them to new folders.
"Even file formats for which you do not have the corresponding application installed on your iPhone can be viewed or printed this way," Cortado said on its Website.
The iPhone camera can now be used to scan a document and, using a scan-to-PDF feature, convert the image to a PDF file. The file can then be saved online, e-mailed or printed on a local or network printer that can be accessed via a WiFi connection.
"This announcement underscores the growing demand among iPhone users to expand usage to not only include personal [and] entertainment, but to deliver [answers to] the high-demand, day-to-day business [needs] and expectations of the mobile business professional," the company said in a statement.
A final addition is the Cortado Web Explorer, which offers users access to their online documents from a PC or Mac.
