Good's Mobile Messaging S/MIME is chosen by Northrup Grumman to provide e-mail for the Army Knowledge Online portal.

Good Technology announced Aug. 17 it will deploy mobile e-mail to the 2 million registered users of the Army Knowledge Online portal. Designed specifically to meet the security requirements of the U.S. Department of Defense, Good Mobile Messaging Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions will provide AKO users with secure messaging for mobile devices with common access card authentication, encryption and signing of e-mail and attachments, and automatic over-the-air synchronization of all certificates.

In September 2008, the Good S/MIME solution was certified as a mobile messaging platform for the Army's use and received the Army's Authority to Operate, a third-party testing process through the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency.

"Good Technology understands the critical need for government organizations to have reliable and secure mobile messaging solutions, no matter where they are located," Brian Bogosian, chairman, CEO and president of Good Technology, said in a statement. "By implementing our Good S/MIME solution with Northrop Grumman, AKO users will have the freedom to access and send their sensitive information through a secure and reliable mobile platform on a broad range of industry-leading smart phones."

Good said the system works on a broad range of Microsoft Windows Mobile devices such as the Sprint Touch Pro, Verizon XV-6850 and the AT&T FUZE.

"Good Mobile Messaging integrates well with the Windows Mobile platform. The combination of Good Mobile Messaging and Windows Mobile devices offers a broader range of device choice for our federal and U.S. public sector customers," said Randy Siegel, senior mobility strategist for Microsoft Federal. "By providing this additional choice through Good Mobile Messaging, we are delivering an intuitive and secure messaging solution for IT administrators and device users."
