According to JiWire, Seoul, South Korea, tops the list of the most Wi-Fi-friendly cities with 2,056 hot spots, followed by Tokyo (1,802) and London (1,627). San Francisco, New York and Chicago offer the most hot spots domestically, with 801, 643 and 501, respectively.
The majority of hot spots require a fee; 92,237 hot spots charge for the service, while only 8,118 are free.
JiWire defines a hot spot as a physical address where people can connect to a public wireless network, and by public the company means deliberately public. Your upstairs neighbor who didnt bother to encrypt his home network doesnt count. Check out eWEEK.coms for the latest news, reviews and analysis on mobile and wireless computing.
