The millions of people who are using Apple's iPad and Android tablets will now be able to take advantage of enterprise-class software and services from IBM. The business card feature shown here allows IBM Sametime users to launch an announcement or chat to an individual or group using an iPad.
IBM Connections
A recent IBM study found that 73 percent of business leaders allow tablets or other mobile devices to connect to their corporate networks. IBM Connections for iPad shows the latest status updates from people in a network as well as contacts being followed. This all happens behind the company firewall.
LotusLive Meetings
A new app that works with IBM's LotusLive cloud-based collaboration service enables users to participate in online meetings from iPad devices. Such online-meeting capabilities will continue to grow in importance, given the sharp rise in the number of connected devices in use. According to a CTIA report, many Americans use two or more wirelessly connected devices, and there are now more of these devices (327.6 million) than there are U.S. citizens (312.4 million).
IBM Connections Profiles
With the Connections Profiles app, tablet users can now view detailed profile information for people in their networks. IDC named Connections—used by companies like Lowe's and Cemex—as the top enterprise social software platform of 2010.
WebSphere Portal Mobile Experience
IBM's WebSphere Portal Mobile Experience solution is designed to help companies more easily control the content, look and feel, and page navigation on mobile devices.
IBM Mobile Web Experience
IBM officials said their software will enable users to create higher quality mobile Web experiences, which in turn lead to more online business. IBM mobile Web experience clients include Bekins Van Lines and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
COPLINK
IBM is leveraging its acquisition of i2 to offer data-analytics software on tablets. With the new COPLINK Mobile Plus software for tablets, users will be able to take such capabilities on the road.
Cognos Mobile
IBM's Cognos Mobile software for the iPad enables business leaders to create instant analyses of key data and metrics, such as market share, revenue and sales growth, in easy-to-read dashboards with rich visuals.
Lotus Symphony Viewers
With IBM's Lotus Symphony Viewers, mail users can view any Open Document Format-based (ODF-based) document, spreadsheet and presentation on mobile devices, including Android tablets.
Lotus Notes Traveler
Employees at global medical-device manufacturer ConMed Linvatec used the IBM Lotus Notes Traveler app on iPads at a recent medical trade show, according to IBM. The app allowed ConMed employees to demonstrate its medical devices, collect sales leads, and send product information to prospective customers right on the spot.

IBM is rolling out eight new social-networking and collaboration mobile apps specifically designed to address enterprise-class requirements on Apple's iPad and Android-based tablets. The new software, available for download now from most of the popular app stores, takes IBM's industry-leading social-networking, real-time collaboration and online-meeting capabilities from behind the company firewall and places it into the hands of tablet users. The new offerings span a wide range of tablets, including the iPad. The software allows employees to more effectively collaborate and share data and images, and conduct meetings on the fly more securely as part of their everyday work experience, IBM said. Big Blue's new apps offer social-networking capabilities for the iPad, online meetings, instant messaging, accessing business documents, and easier access to mail and calendar. IBM also released new software for building apps faster and better, and for improving the Web experience for users.
