Intel Adds 802.11a to Centrino Notebooks

Intel Corp. on Monday announced a chip that adds 802.11a functionality to  its Centrino mobile technology. The Intel PRO/Wireless 2100A network connection supports both the 802.11a and 802.11b protocols. The chip supports WPA and WEP security protocols and third-party security solutions such as Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX), the company said.
