Intel Cuts Desktop, Mobile Chip Prices
Three mobile Pentium 4-M chips cut by up to 38 percent; three mobile Celerons cut by 16 percent.Intel Corp. has slashed prices on some of its fastest desktop and notebook chips. The Santa Clara, Calif., chip maker this weekend cut prices on three of its mobile Pentium 4-M chipsranging in speeds of 2GHz to 2.4GHzby as much as 38 percent.
Intel also reduced the prices on three of its mobile Celeron chipsthe 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz and 2GHz modelsby up to 16 percent. In addition, the price of the 3.06GHz Pentium 4 desktop processor was dropped by 32 percent, from $589 to $401 per 1,000-unit quantity.
