: Nokia IP380"> Executive Summary: Nokia IP380

Usability Excellent
Capability Good
Performance Good
Interoperability Fair
Manageability Good
Scalability Fair
Security Good
The IP380 is a good choice for small to midsize sites looking for a reliable, easy-to-use firewall/VPN appliance with flexible expansion options. However, sites that want the option of upgrading to Gigabit Ethernet networks will need to look elsewhere because the IP380 does not offer a Gigabit upgrade path.

Cost Analysis

The IP380 has a competitive starting price of $10,000 but can quickly become expensive with hardware and software upgrades. The NetScreen-208 starts at $15,000, and the Cisco PIX 525 Firewall starts at around $12,000.

(+) Easy to set up and configure; slim form; easily serviceable chassis.

(-) Lacks hardware redundancy; no Gigabit Ethernet upgrade option.
