Teamed with wireless modems from Sierra Wireless and Novatel Wireless, OmniSkys Internet service ably connects HP Jornada and Compaq iPaq Pocket PC users to e-mail and the Web. Although we preferred the iPaq combination for its flexibility, the Jornada package performed well and costs significantly less.

SHORT-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Pocket PC users can access company e-mail on the road with relatively little setup.

LONG-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // The iPaq combination costs more than the Jornada package, but its hardware can be used with future devices as well.

Fast messaging access; useful Web clipping channels.

iPaq hardware is costly; Jornada hardware cannot be used with other devices.
