Cutting Edge Softwares $40 QuickOffice 5.0 combines desktop and Palm-device software components to enable users to convert, view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents on their handheld devices. QuickOffice supports fewer file types than DataVizs Documents To Go Professional, but it includes a somewhat more robust spreadsheet component.

SHORT-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Palm device users can use QuickOffice to work with basic office documents right away.

LONG-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Because conversion takes place on the users desktop PC, the usefulness of this product with wireless e-mail is limited.

Good compression; charting capabilities in spreadsheet module.

Only works with Microsoft file types; conversion takes place on desktop PC.
