As RIM's BlackBerry Torch hits store shelves, the company is facing more pressure than ever. For now, RIM is putting on a brave face, trying to show its customers that it knows what it needs to do in order to beat back the Apple and Google invasion of its turf. But in reality, RIM is lost. The Torch and its new operating system show that RIM still believes it's 2005 when it was top dog in the smartphone space and there wasn't a serious challenger on the horizon. Today's mobile marketplace is a different space altogether and it's becoming increasingly hostile toward the BlackBerry. But that doesn't mean that RIM is powerless to change the situation.
