Laser vs. Inkjet Printers: The Blurring Lines (
Page 1 of 20 )
As both lasers and inkjets improve, each encroaching on what was once the other’s strongest territory, the differences between the two types of printers are inevitably starting to blur. But there are still differences. Here’s a look at the good, the bad and the overlap.

Print Speed
Advantage: Laser
Rated speeds suggest otherwise, but lasers generally have a tremendous speed advantage over inkjets. The simple truth is that the ratings for the two technologies are not comparable. You can count on a 30 ppm (page-per-minute) laser to print text pages at close to 30 ppm at the printer’s default settings. A 30-ppm inkjet, on the other hand, is more likely to print at 5 ppm or less.
