The Web-Based Driver Installer could reduce maintenance costs by automating the driver installation process.

Ricoh released on June 27 its Web-Based Driver Installer, designed to automate the deployment of print drivers in the enterprise. The WBDI allows IT departments to select default settings to be used during driver installation, helping to reduce the amount of time that IT spends on installing drivers and potentially reducing maintenance costs.

Users access the WBDI Web site through their company network. The user can then search for a printer by printer name, location or IP address. Once a printer is selected, the WBDI installs and downloads the appropriate driver. Administrators also are able to package groups of drivers for large deployments.
