Ricoh releases PCC v3, the newest version of its Print and Copy Control software.
Ricoh Americas launched a new version of its Print and Copy Control software, PCC v3, which helps users control their production account and reporting information for their Ricoh output devices.
allows users to manage content and information on their Ricoh MFPs (multifunctional products) from one location. This enables businesses to save money by reducing the need to install, configure and maintain external print and copy terminals, the company said.
"Providing tools for better cost control [is] gaining popularity in large enterprises," said Peter Grant, managing vice president of Printing Markets for research firm Gartner. "If a business is able to manage and monitor their output usage, they are able to better control their costs."
Ricohs latest version of its PCC also enables businesses to create a secure printing environment by allowing only authenticated users to print and copy documents. Authenticated users would need a PIN code, a user ID and password, or an identification card to print.

The previous version of PCC was designed to allow users to install software on the hard disk of Ricoh MFPs, restrict unauthorized access to private documents, manage account information from one central location, and allow secure printing and copying of confidential material by using a front panel display.
The PCC v3 adds to those features and is now designed to support network installation for users in enterprise environments, allow businesses to connect their MFPs through a network, while also offering an external card reader that can be used for security authentication.
PCC v3 integrates with Equitrac Office 4 and Equitrac Express 4, the document accounting and cost-recovery software applications that provide Ricoh MFPs with content management tools.
