Now that Windows 7 is finally available, there undoubtedly are many users who are preparing for an upgrade from Windows XP or Windows Vista. There's just one problem: An upgrade from Windows XP is not easily done. Microsoft didn't build in a direct migration path to Windows 7, which will force users to find clever ways to back up their data and move it to the new operating system. Windows Vista is a different story, as there is a direct migration path to Windows 7, making it easy for users to get the new operating system up and running quickly with all their settings. That said, there can be pitfalls for users of both operating systems when they prepare to migrate to Windows 7. They need to ensure that their data is secure during the entire process.
