Archer Technologies announced plans to acquire rival IT governance, risk and compliance vendor Brabeion Software. The move is meant to bolster Archer's products with Brabeion's content library and expand their enterprise customer base.

Officials at Archer Technologies have their eyes set on a rival in the IT governance, risk and compliance space.

The company plans to acquire Brabeion Software, a direct competitor of Archer, for an undisclosed sum. According to officials at Archer, the move is meant to bolster the company's policy management tools by adding Brabeion's content library.

Developed in cooperation with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the Brabeion content will be added to Archer's GRC product line and significantly expand Archer's content offerings to now include more than 130 technical compliance baselines and controls. The combined Archer and Brabeion content includes 60 authoritative source references, 132 technical controls/baselines and 30 top-level policy content sections.

"By acquiring another IT-GRC leader, Archer will further accelerate our market penetration and leadership," said Jon Darbyshire, CEO of Archer, in a statement. "The timing for this deal is perfect. There is a growing and undeniable need for E-GRC solutions among the Fortune 1000, and Archer has a continued commitment to be a leader in the space."

Several members of Brabeion's customer base are among the Forbes 350 and Fortune 1000, expanding Archer's footprint in that customer tier. Archer will extend support for Brabeion products for the next 12 months, and will assist with their upgrades to new, enhanced versions of offerings built on the Archer SmartSuite Framework. Brabeion's flagship product, Pathfinder, competes against Archer's Policy Management product. Brabeion's second offering, Navigator, competes against Archer's Risk Management solution.
