IT Security & Network Security News & Reviews: Enterprise Security Products Grab Spotlight at Interop NYC

By Fahmida Y. Rashid on 2011-10-07

While Interop is primarily a networking showcase, security vendors showed off existing products or launched new security software, platforms and appliances at the Oct. 5-7 show in New York. Organizations are becoming increasingly concerned about ways to secure their cloud and virtualized infrastructures. To supply this need, vendors were on hand with mobile-device management, data-security protection, password-security and advanced Web security filtering tools. Mobile-device management was a hot topic at the show as vendors discussed how best to protect the data being stored on mobile phones and tablets. Sujai Hajela, vice president and general manager of Cisco's wireless networking business unit in the network services group, addressed the "bring your own device" trend during his keynote presentation. Employees are checking emails on their mobile devices, quickly reading attachments and performing other work-related tasks, Hajela said. Any kind of mobile-device management and security protection needs to account for where the user is, what data is being accessed and what needs to be done, according to Cisco. eWEEK put together a list of security products featured at Interop.
