Micromuse to Acquire GuardedNet for $16M
The deal will combine GuardedNet's security and risk management technology with Micromuse's Netcool system management software, Micromuse says.Micromuse of San Francisco said on Friday that it is buying GuardedNet Inc. of Atlanta, Ga., for $16.2 million. The acquisition will add GuardedNets security and risk management technology to Micromuse Inc.s Netcool system management software suite, according to a Micromuse statement. GuardedNet is a 6-year-old, 42-person company that sells SIEM (security information and event management) technology.
A growing area of interest and investment, SIEM software tools allow organizations to manage and filter the enormous amounts of information created by security point products like firewalls, intrusion detection tools and VPN (virtual private network) devices.
