Several rounds of restructuring are designed to drive better collaboration between its product lines and leaders.
Symantec officials confirmed its latest round of corporate restructuring has touched some of the company’s highest levels and employees.
Former Altiris CEO Greg Butterfield, who led the Altiris Business Unit at Symantec since Altiris was acquired last year, will be stepping down from that position. Also, Tom Kendra, who headed the Security and Compliance group, will be stepping down from his position as part of the restructuring. Both men will continue to provide services for the company through the June quarter as Symantec realigns its organization, company officials said.
“Since taking on the chief operating officer role more than six weeks ago, Enrique Salem has been evaluating the organization to determine the best structure for the team,” according to a company spokesman. “Symantec has realigned its enterprise product groups to improve cross product line collaboration with the senior product line leaders reporting to Enrique.”
The Altiris Business Unit will be integrated into the Endpoint Security and Management team. The company has merged the NetBackup and Backup Exec units into a Data Protection Group, which will be headed by Deepak Mohan, and combined the Storage and Server Foundation groups under Rob Soderbery, who will lead the Storage and Availability Management team.
Other product line leaders reporting to Salem are: Joseph Ansanelli, who will lead the Data Loss Prevention team; Ken Berryman, in charge of a company-wide Endpoint Virtualization effort; Francis deSouza, who will lead the Information Foundation, Compliance and Security Management team and Brad Kingsbury, head of the Endpoint Security and Management team.
