In the past few years, cyber-security appears to have added its name to the list of jobs that are relatively recession-proof. But separating oneself from the pack of IT pros working in the field requires something extra. According to research firm Foote Partners, the following security certifications gained 10 percent or more in market value during the final quarter of 2012: CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner, Security Certified Network Specialist, IBM Certified Advanced Security Professional, GIAC Certified Penetration Tester. Even with the economic struggles of the past few years, IT security is the one area that has been relatively resilient.
