eBay/Qualcomm Hacker Pleads Guilty

Jerome Heckenkamp had angered judges, claimed he was framed. Plea ends years of pre-trial wrangling but leaves some trial issues unresolved.

Jerome Heckenkamp pleaded guilty on January 29 to defacing the online auction house eBay and penetrating systems at the San Diego-based telecommunication equipment maker Qualcomm. Heckenkamp admitted to penetrating the systems of Exodus Communications, Juniper Networks, Lycos, and Cygnus Solutions. His pre-trial claims had angered a judge into declaring him a flight risk.
