Vivinet Assessor 2.0 is a VOIP pre-deployment tool that does a thorough job of determining whether a data network can handle the addition of voice traffic. The product includes a labor-saving network device discovery process and determines the current use of each network device, which significantly adds to the products accuracy in calculating the amount of bandwidth necessary to successfully deploy a VOIP product. Vivinet also comes with myriad executive- and technical-level reports and a price thats $2,000 lower than last years version.

COST ANALYSIS

NetIQ has done a good job of taking the labor out of setting up Vivinet Assessor, and that means upfront configuration costs—one of the biggest issues in using the product—are significantly reduced. NetIQ also dropped the retail price to $12,000 and dumped its vexing tiered pricing scheme.

(+) More precise predictions based on more accurate network inventory and utilization; comprehensive reports.

(-) Cisco-oriented focus means less substantial reporting for networks with a mix of networking gear.
