Siemens Enterprise Communications Names CEO




Hamid Akhavan, currently the chief operating officer at Deutsche Telekom and CEO of T-Mobile International, will take over as CEO of Siemens Enterprise Communications, a joint venture of Siemens AG and a U.S. private equity firm. The company sells telecommunications products and services.

Siemens Enterprise Communications has appointed an executive from Deutsche Telekom to be its CEO.

Siemens announced Dec. 8 that 47-year-old Hamid Akhavan, who has been the chief operating office at Deutsche Telekom since July, will take over the reins in February.

Mark Stone, the interim CEO for Siemens for the past few months, will stay with on as chairman of the company’s board of directors and also will remain the executive board.

Siemens Enterprise Communications is a joint venture between Siemens Ag and The Gores Group, a U.S.-based private equity firm. The company sells telecommuncations products and services, including voice, network infrastructure and security solutions.

Akhavan also has served as CEO of T-Mobile International AG, and CTO and CIO of Teligent, an international broadband access company. He said he wants to build on what Siemens already has started.
