In today’s data centers, there’s a whole lot of virtualization going on, eWeek contributing editor Stan Gibson reports. The goal is to cut costs and conserve energy, but managing all that virtualization requires some new tools and new approaches. Virtualization is the creation of a number of different logical devices on a single physical device. Because you’re putting more eggs into a single basket, hardware reliability and a sound failover strategy are more important than ever. Because you may have a combination of virtual servers and non-virtual servers, your tools need to be able to manage both.
