The developer world is made up of many communities: There's the Java developer community, the Linux community, the MySQL community. But what Sun Microsystems CEO Jonathan Schwartz calls the Community of Communities is the open source community, which he says has enabled Sun to reach the broadest diversity of developers, encompassing the desktop, intranet, mobile and network platforms, as well as to enter the rich Internet applications (RIA) market. Schwartz talked with eWeek Senior Editor Darryl Taft at this year's JavaOne conference.
