The company will integrate VideoEgg's Web-based video publishing technology, VideoEgg Publisher, into its TypePad hosted blogging service.

Blogging technology provider Six Apart Ltd. is aiming to make it easier for users to add video to their blogs. Six Apart is integrating VideoEgg Inc.s Web-based video publishing technology, VideoEgg Publisher, into its TypePad hosted blogging service, said officials this week. VideoEgg Publisher, which launched in September at the DEMOfall show in Huntington Beach, Calif., is designed to help users upload videos to their blogs with the same ease that they can upload photos, said Kevin Sladek, co-founder of VideoEgg, headquartered in New Haven, Conn.
With the VideoEgg Web plug-in, users can drag and drop videos onto Web sites or transfer videos directly from mobile phones, Web cams or camcorders.
The tool can handle dozens of file formats, said Sladek. VideoEgg automatically compresses, encodes and optimizes videos, while giving users the ability to shorten the length of the video. Videos are viewed through the Flash-based VideoEgg Player, which eliminates the need for external video player software like Windows Media player or QuickTime.

Users can download the Web plug-in free here. Although the monetization model has not yet been finalized, Sladek didnt eliminate the possibility that advertisements may be included in videos produced using the free version of VideoEgg. VideoEgg also plans to integrate its technology with other Six Apart technologies. Six Apart also provides a software blogging platform, called MoveableType, that is geared for businesses and developers, and a LiveJournal service, which allows bloggers to restrict the network of people who can access their blogs.
