Windows: Microsoft`s Windows Mobile 6.5 Offers Mobile Office, Outlook, Calendar, More

Microsofts Windows Mobile 6.5, the latest version of its smartphone operating system, was released on Oct. 6 with the hope on Redmonds part that it will gain more market share in the mobile operating-system market. In order to convince users that their device may meet their business needs better than offerings from Apple, Palm or Research In Motions BlackBerry line, Microsoft has incorporated a number of business functionalities into Mobile 6.5.

Among these features is Microsoft Office Mobile, which lets users view PowerPoint presentations, as well as edit Word and Excel documents. Microsoft also continues to provide e-mail and calendar management, with the ability to sync with a PC, through Outlook Mobile.

  • Excel Mobile lets road warriors make changes to spreadsheets, sort data and view an entire worksheet on one screen.
  • With a multitouch screen, Excel Mobile provides additional functionality for creating new spreadsheets and charts, and copying and pasting formulas.
  • Office Communicator gives the on-the-road user access to recent contacts, the ability to navigate IM conversations, single-number reach support and join Unified Communications (UC) conference calls with a single button-click.
