Microsoft has announced that it will be opening its own retail stores, a la the Apple Store. eWEEK imagines what you may find when you walk through the doors.

  • One would assume the store would be easily accessible ...
  • ... And the aisles would be an endless vista of Vista.
  • Of course, the store's main function may be to subtly make the public aware that Windows 7 is coming.
  • Like Apple's Genius Bar, Microsoft could have a resident expert to explain things ... like why you'd want a Zune.
  • Like Kmart's Blue Light Special sales, the Microsoft store could offer special Blue Screen of Death sales events.
  • In its never-ending quest to control your home, perhaps the Microsoft store will have an appliance section.
  • For the Microsoft Surface and other touch-screen technologies, the store should develop its own line of cleaning products.
  • Didn't get enough of the Gates and Seinfeld commercials? Maybe in-store exclusives, like a Bill & Jerry DVD set, would fill the void.
  • The store could make use of some old Microsoft icons. Say hello to Rollback Bob and Clippy the Sales Assistant.
  • And, if the economy continues to head south, we're sure Steve Ballmer could revamp the stores to survive a long downturn.
