A growing number of employees now expect to use cloud-based collaboration tools in their daily work, whether it’s an internal social network, a public social network, a workflow application, or other type of service.
We’ll be Tweeting about how first-generation cloud tools such as Salesforce Chatter, Microsoft Yammer and SharePoint, Google Apps, Jive, IBM SmartCloud, Moxie, and others are being used in the workplace. We’ll also talk about new-generation -- yes, there already are “new-generation” -- cloud-service collaboration tools such as Nimble, Cubby, Huddle, SmartSheet, and several others and what new angles they bring to the table.
We also will be talking about which new functions might be used in future versions of these tools.

The whole idea is to facilitate additional industry dialogue and provide a forum for questions, idea sharing and problem solving. We also want your input on what you'd like to discuss during future chats, so please leave a comment on this post or tweet @eweeknews with topic ideas.
Participants will be able to ask questions of eWEEK
staff members and special guests or simply add their thoughts to the conversation. The only restrictions are that we stay on topic and that you say what you need to say succinctly (140 characters).

Please note that to maintain a semblance of order, please prefix your question or comment with the number of the question we are currently discussing. As an example, the moderator may post: "Q1: Are you now using a cloud-based collaboration app, and is it helping you do your job in a more effective way?"
To which you might answer: "A1: Yes, I do, and it’s great. But I always have to avoid the strong temptation to show off the latest pix of my kids."
first Tweetchat on “Using Business Analytics in the Cloud” on Jan. 16 was a resounding success, with and average of 5.6 Tweets per minute during the 60-minute time frame. If you do the math, that’s about 340 tweets in the single hour. The action is fast, but lots of good information invariably is contributed.
