IBM says its Bluemix platform for cloud development offers developers the fastest on-ramp to building with advanced cloud tools, and is a foundation to rapidly integrate and analyze data in new ways. Since Bluemix's launch in 2014, IBM has introduced more than 150 services to the platform, including more than 30 cognitive-based APIs. More than 20,000 new developers join Bluemix each week, tapping into this toolbox to launch more than 150,000 apps every month. Nearly 70 percent of all IBM Cloud users take advantage of Watson services on IBM Cloud, designing and deploying cognitive-enabled apps to usher in a new wave of cloud innovation. IBM also recently added blockchain to the services supported on Bluemix, with the opening of a new Bluemix Garage in New York City. The facility not only will focus on blockchain but also specialize in financial services and fintech, working with startups and enterprises alike. This eWEEK slide show details a handful of startups that are doing just this, and using the cloud to speed their time to market.
