As IT systems become more complex (and widespread, with dozens of mobile devices entering the market), the need for service and support is greater than ever.
Whether a company chooses to keep its hatches battened down amidst the economic turbulence or is already eyeing expansion into new territory, it's undeniable that IT plays a larger role than ever in many enterprises' future strategy. According to recent data from, employers are looking for everything from computer systems analysts to computer software engineers to network and computer systems administrators—IT jobs covering a broad range of skills and needs, and possibly encouraging for anyone looking to scale the ladder of an IT career. On the other side of the equation are the job-seekers. Additional data from suggested that those working in IT are hunting a broad variety of roles across the spectrum, from desktop service and support to IT project management to computer and network security. IT job-seekers have been hunting for IT jobs with skills specialization in C++, Java, J2SE, Python, UML, XML and Linux. Over the past few months, the highest volumes of job postings have appeared in California, Texas, New York, Washington, Virginia and Massachusetts.
