Klocwork Cahoots Simplifies Peer Code Review
Klocwork announced Cahoots, a new tool that is designed to simplify the code review process.Klocwork, a maker of automated source-code analysis (SCA) solutions, has announced Klocwork Cahoots, a new peer code review tool that simplifies the code review process. Known for delivering tools to help programmers develop more secure software, Klocwork unveils Cahoots, as a language-agnostic tool designed for development teams of all sizes. Cahoots fits into the developer workflow to ensure code reviews are both effective and fast, the company said. In software development, peer review is a type of software review in which a work product such as code is examined by its author and one or more colleagues, in order to evaluate its technical content and quality. Code review is systematic examination code and is intended to find and fix mistakes overlooked in the initial development phase, improving both the overall quality of software and the developers' skills. Reviews are done in various forms such as pair programming, informal walkthroughs and formal inspections. "We set out to create a tool that stripped away the complexity and heavy processes that make it unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming for developers to perform a code review," Gwyn Fisher, chief technology officer at Klocwork, said in a statement. "Klocwork Cahoots is a sophisticated tool that we've made beautifully simple so that developers can focus on sharing their code, getting timely feedback and committing a really solid end product, which is precisely what code review is supposed to be."
Indeed, Klocwork officials said Klocwork Cahoots provides a clean, simple environment for developers to perform code reviews in. Core functions such as starting a review, participating in a review, performing a search and adding reviewers can each be completed with one click.
